Arkansas Trauma System Evidence-Based Guidelines
The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), in concert with the Governor’s Trauma Advisory Committee, has authorized a series of evidence-based trauma treatment guidelines for use by our physicians, nurses, and pre-hospital care givers. The Arkansas Trauma Society, in conjunction with the Arkansas Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, has put together a team of content experts to generate these guidelines, based upon the most current and relevant scientific articles available. This information is then placed in a quick-reading format, with special attention to the needs of Arkansas trauma patients and the environment and framework of the Arkansas Trauma System. References for these guidelines are included in at the end of each guideline.
After being developed, review of these guidelines is coordinated by the ADH-Trauma Section and circulated for review and comment to the Trauma Medical Directors, and EMS Medical Directors pre-publication. Once this refinement process is completed, the guidelines are published on the ADH website and the Arkansas Trauma Society website.
Any and all comments or suggestions on these guidelines are welcome and should be directed to the Editor of the guidelines, Dr. Charles D. Mabry, MD, FACS.
